3rd District Event Coordinator ~ David Beliveau
I am the new 3rd District Event Coordinator. I’ve been a member of the Hartford Fire Department (CT) for the past 18 ½ years obtaining the rank of Captain. I started my career in the US Army serving 4 years as a firefighter.
After being Honorably discharged from the US Army I became a firefighter on the Hattiesburg Fire Department (MS) Local 184 for 6 yrs. I’m married and have 3 children and 4 grand children. My son is a Firefighter with the Hattiesburg Fire Department (MS) Local 184; my son-n-law is a Battalion Chief on the Petal Fire Department (MS), my brother is a Captain on the East Hartford Fire Department (CT) local 1548, and his son just became a firefighter on the Hartford Fire Department (CT) local 760.
I started my riding 4 years ago; I came home one day and told my wife I wanted to go look at bikes. We went looking and that night and I decided it was time to get one. I bought a 2005 Vulcan Nomad. The next day I asked a brother firefighter to come over and teach me how to ride his and then went and got my learners permit so I could get my bike the following day. Yea, I passed and made it home safely. Now I try to ride every day when I’m off.
I hope to get the 3rd District riding together more. Anytime anyone gets members together for a ride let me know so I can get it out to other members that might want to go for a ride.
One last thing, a motorcycle crash saved my brother. While X-raying him for his injuries from the crash they found a spot on a kidney (Cancer). They removed his kidney and all the cancer with it. To me the crash was a blessing in disguise. He’s back to full duty. Now maybe he’ll get back on a bike. Hope to see every one on a ride soon.
